The Cots 4 Tots Story

The Marine Toys for Tots Foundation is a non-profit foundation which supports the Marine Corps' annual toy drive. It offers administrative, financial logistical, and promotional support for local Toys for Tots coordinators, as well as a variety of services that the Marine Corps is unable to provide. It also distributes educational and informational materials to the general public. It also arranges for national companies to include information about Toys for Tots in their paid advertisements and conducts a public education and publicity program each year.

The Cots 4 Tots story began in 2010 with a fundraising appeal for Bristol's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) located at St Michael's Hospital. The charity has raised tens of thousands of pounds since its beginning, helping families of premature and sick babies across the West of England and South Wales. Its mission is to provide families with accommodation houses and state-of-the-art equipment for the NICU.

One of the main areas of focus is Cots for Tots House, which is a no-cost "home from home" for families staying in the hospital. It is located right next to the NICU and allows parents to stay close to their infant. The charity has helped over 2100 families stay at the house since 2012.

Families staying at Cots For Tots House are reassured they aren't alone. They can share their experiences with other parents who are experiencing the same thing. They also have access to a variety of facilities that will ensure their stay is as comfortable as possible.

The charity also funds an artist who visits the NICU to ease anxiety and pain for babies and parents. It has been proven that this improves the quality of life both for the patient and their family members. Music therapy can also decrease the amount of medications needed to treat children, which can save time and money for hospitals. The therapist utilizes specially-designed instruments that resonate and are tuned to specific frequencies, and they play soothing tunes to soothe babies. Furthermore the instruments generate vibrations that can soothe parents and fathers.
